...The Source of the word Who is speaking? The Lord, the devil or his forces, or the soul? Do you know His voice? John 10:3-5, 27 How does He speak?
Does it add to, or take away?
Is it:
DIRECTIONAL/INSTRUCTIONAL WORDS: Are the "first word" on the matter or are instructional in nature (a "how to" or "what to" word).
Abram's instruction to get out of his homeland and go to the place the Lord would show him. Gen. 12:1-2
- Build according to the plan God gives (Moses & the tabernacle) Heb. 8:5 (Ex 25:40 - "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern given you on the mountain." - Do no more & no less than He tells you
Paul & Agabus Acts 21:10-14
Encouragement via the Spirit of the Lord. They will edify, exhort, comfort. They will build you up. - Do they minister life?
They will be bigger than you They will absolutely require Him They will require that faith be activated and maintained for their fulfillment
God will not do something for you that does not require you to act in faith or require you to need Him.
Some words will require your active participation, some will not.
Your response to the word of the Lord: Obey Sacrifice as necessary Don't allow the "word" to become more important than the one who spoke it.
